Frequently asked questions

How do I copy an emoji?

Click an emoji or press Enter to copy it, then paste with Ctrl+V in posts, documents, emails, or HTML. A selected skin tone is included when copied.

Why does it look different on each device?

Unicode defines the character; the operating system and font determine its appearance. This gallery uses your system font. Its appearance can change in the destination application or on another device.

What is Unicode, and how many emojis are there?

Unicode assigns characters and emoji sequences standardized codes. This gallery uses the pinned Emoji 17 dataset, with English labels and search; supported variants appear when selected.

Can I use an emoji as a favicon?

Yes. “Use as favicon” generates the <link> with the emoji embedded as an SVG data URI. Paste it into the <head> without uploading files. This tab previews it for you.

How do skin tones work?

Unicode defines five skin-tone modifiers for supported people and gesture emojis. Choose a tone in the action bar to apply it when copying or downloading. The unmodified variant is the default.

Choose, customize, and test your favicon

Browse the gallery or create an emoji or monogram icon. Copy the generated link tag into the head of your HTML page. Test the result on your actual website: browser caches can delay favicon updates. Domain lookup contacts external services; those services may return cached icons or fallback images.

Will every emoji look the same?

No. Emoji glyphs depend on the operating system and installed fonts. A PNG captures this device’s rendering; an SVG that contains text can still vary on another device.
