A gray globe can be a service fallback. It does not prove that a website lacks a favicon. Direct lookup only checks /favicon.ico, also with www if that fails; it does not inspect page tags or the manifest.

Will every emoji look the same?
No. Emoji glyphs depend on the operating system and installed fonts. A PNG captures this device’s rendering; an SVG that contains text can still vary on another device.
